Q: “It’s always bugged the hell out of me that jazz players are almost reluctant to promote their own stuff. For one thing, they could probably make a few dollars selling their own records on the stand, and for another thing, people want to take home that memory with them – so you’re serving your audience, just as you’re serving them by playing live…”
A: “I was out in Missouri in November doing a concert and the professor who was inviting me out was in university. We talked just, well, several times, but then just days before I went out there. He said, "Now, we've got a table set up for you for your recordings and, of course, you're bringing your T-shirts and buttons, aren't you? And I said, "Oh, my huh? Huh?" It blew me away.”
