Q: “You’re of the opinion that jazz and its attitudes can be taught?”

A: Barry Harris: “Oh, yes. Oh, yes.”

Interviewer: “There are some who will say that's not true, you know.”

Barry Harris: “Oh, no.”

Interviewer: “You can learn it ...”

Barry Harris: “No, no.”

Interviewer: “But you can't be taught it.”

Barry Harris: “No, you can't really be taught it. I mean, but I think it would take a certain thing about you. You have to ... like especially these young musicians, they have to learn to listen. They have to sort of go back a little bit and listen.“
