Q: “You are in a lot of ways self-taught about jazz and taught by example from listening to other musicians? From where?”
A: Adam Makowicz: “From listening to other musicians and I try to understand what they are doing, what songs, learn first songs. And then I tried to improvise like what I like. You know, like at that time I like Tatum, but Tatum was too sophisticated. I knew about it, but don't do a Tatum. Listen, doesn't enjoy feeling, you know, kind of feeling only. Feel music, but really Erol Garner I started to understand he was more simple and very swinging pianist.”
Interviewer: “Oh, yes.”
Adam Makowicz: “And he gave me first, I think, I started to understand music.”
