Q: “What would a typical year find you doing? Working through in festivals and clubs or home most of the time, or what”

A: “Well, no, not at home. Definitely not at home because in Denmark, there are only two jazz clubs there and one of them is only open about five months of the year. That's the one which is inside the Tivoli Gardens. It's called Slukefter. They bring in American soloists. Well, actually soloists from all over, but mainly American soloists and they used the rhythm groups in Copenhagen, which means that I get a chance to, of course, do some of the things there. But on the average, I don't work more than, let's say, five or six times a year.”
