Privacy Policy

We respect your right to confidentiality, and commit to protecting your privacy in accordance with Canadian privacy laws. Here’s how we’ll do that:

  1. Collection of Personal Information
We do not collect personal information about you unless you agree to provide it to us, and we attempt to limit the collection of information to what is required in the circumstances. Typically, personal information collected would include your name; gender; address; and phone number, together with credit card information and e-mail address where applicable.

  2. Use Of Your Personal Information
We use your personal information to establish and maintain communication with you. This includes soliciting donations; providing you with tax receipts; participating in contests; and keeping you posted of current activities via printed and online newsletters.

If you have participated in an online activity, your personal information will only be used for the purposes of that online activity, unless you otherwise provide us with your consent. We may ask for your permission to use your personal information for other purposes, for example, to send you a newsletter or donor solicitation. We will only use this information for these purposes if you have provided us with consent by "opting-in" on the online form.

If you have entered and won one of our contests, your name, photograph, and city of residence may be published by us and/or our sponsors. Please check the specific contest rules for details.

  3. Use Of “Cookies”
"Cookies" are simple text files that browsers place on a computer’s hard drive when sites are visited. Cookies cannot damage files, nor can they read information from your hard drive. The cookie, by itself, doesn't tell us your email address or who you are. When you participate in our activities, we do not store any personal information within cookies, nor do we link or combine information collected through cookies to any personal information submitted online.

The Canadian Jazz Archive Online sometimes uses cookies to store non-personal information, such as the speed of your connection, the language of your browser, and to "remember" things like whether a visitor has responded to a poll, or viewed a popup window. We collect this information in a non-identifying, anonymous and aggregate form to enhance our website design and to collect general statistical information. We do not use cookies to access, trace or track any personal information.

  4. Sharing Your Information With Others
We may use outside parties to send newsletters and other mailings on our behalf. In such cases, we will ask the outside party to sign a confidentiality agreement to ensure that the information we provide is not used for any other purpose. There may also be instances in which the law requires us to provide personal information without your consent. Otherwise, we do not make available your personal information to any outside parties. We do not sell or trade our donor list.

  5. Opting Out
If you wish to be removed from our eNewsletter service, refer to the instructions at the bottom of the newsletter. If you wish to be removed from our mailing list, email JAZZ.FM91 Membership Services or contact us by telephone at 416-595-0404 ext 245.

  6. Protecting the Privacy of Children
If you are under the age of 13, please do not provide any personally identifiable information (an example would be your name, address, email address) without the knowledge and permission of your parent or guardian. If we learn that you are under 13, we will not maintain any personal information (except as permitted by law) without the verifiable consent of your parent or guardian. This may result in you not being able to participate in some of the activities on our site.

Unless otherwise specified, you must be at least 18 years old in order to participate in any online contest.

  7. Links to Other Sites
Our site contains links to other sites. Once you leave our site, you are subject to the privacy policies of the new site. We are not responsible in any way for their policies so we encourage anybody who links to other sites from ours to read those sites' privacy policies, especially if you are contemplating the provision of personal information.

  8. Other Issues
Questions regarding this Privacy Policy should be directed to Victoria Sanjana, Privacy Officer.

Please note that Canadian Jazz Archive Online reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time without notice.
