Yank Lawson

Biography

YANK LAWSON (trumpeter) was born May 3, 1911 in Trenton, Missouri and passed away in 1995 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Lawson was largely a Dixieland and swing musician, a founding member of the Bob Crosby Orchestra and later worked with Benny Goodman and Tommy Dorsey. He co-created the World’s Greatest Jazz Band, was an active studio musician and was inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Fall of Fame in 1998.
