Terry Gibbs
Biography
TERRY GIBBS (vibraphonist, composer, drummer) was born October 13, 1924. Gibbs performing career began after winning a talent contest at 12. Initially a drummer and percussionist, his interest in bebop returned him to vibraphone and sacrificing a scholarship to Juilliard for percussion. Gibbs has performed with Buddy Rich, Wody Herman and Beeny Goodman as well as acting as music director for Regis Philbin, Mel Torme and Steve Allen. The creator of some 300 compositions is perhaps best known for his “Dream Band” formed in 1957.
