Biography

RALPH SUTTON (pianist) was born November 4th, 1922 in Hamburg, Missouri. A talented stride pianist in the tradition of James P. Johnson and Fats Waller he began performing with Jack Teagarden while still in college. He drew further attention by appearing on the radio series “This is Jazz” and later formed a trio. In addition to appearing on numerous TV shows such as Dick Cavett, Ed Sullivan and The Tonight Show he toured worldwide. He was a founding member of the “World’s Greatest Jazz Band” in 1968.
