MOSE ALLISON (pianist, vocalist, composer) was born on November 11, 1927 in Tippo, Mississippi. The unique bluesman, is admired for his wry sense of humour and social commentary in his songs, which include “Young Man’s Blues” , “Everybody’s Cryin’ Mercy”and “Your Mind is on Vacation”. Performing in genres from boogie woogie and blues to bebop, the highly respected songwriter has been covered by acts ranging from The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison and The Who to Diana Krall over his six decade career. A graduate of the University of Mississippi and Louisiana State, Allison started his career in jazz upon moving to New York in the 1950s where he performed and recorded with artists like Al Cohn, Zoot Sims and Stan Getz as well a multitude of his own recordings.
