Harvey Silver
Biography
HARVEY SILVER (piano) was born January 6, 1917 and is now deceased. He originally played with jazz pioneer and singer, Jimmy Davidson, and later, in a Dixieland Sextet formed in 1936 as part of the Club Esquire Orchestra with Teddy Davidson on tenor sax, Howard 'Cokie' Campbell on clarinet, Murray Ginsberg on trombone, Reef McGarvey on drums, and himself on piano. The band broadcast on CBC Radio on the shows Jazz Unlimited and Trans-Canada Matinee during the 1940's.
The Harvey Silver Band performed in concert as part of the ‘Sound of Toronto Jazz’ Series on December 3, 1979.
