Biography

DAVE FRISHBERG (pianist, vocalist, composer, lyricist) was born March 23, 1933 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Lauded for his crafting of clever and witty lyrics, and often described by critics as an amalgam of Hoagy Carmichael, Noel Coward and Woody Allen. Frishberg is also recognized as a talented pianist having worked with Carmen McCrae, Ben Webster, Zoot Sims, Irene Kral, the ManhattanTransfer and numerous others as sideman and accompanist. Cult classic tunes include “I’m Hip”, “Peel Me a Grape” and “My Attorney Bernie” recorded by Blossom Dearie, Mel Torme, Diana Krall and many others. Frishberg has also had a productive musical partnership with Bob Dorough, is renowned for his solo shows and has earned four Grammy nominations.
