Biography

DARRELL GRANT (pianist, composer, bandleader, educator) The precocious, Philadelphia born and Colorado raised Grant toured with the Pearl Street Jazz Band at age 15, and won a scholarship to the Eastman School of Music at 17. Grant had a long association with jazz legend Betty Carter before leading his own groups starting in 1994 and producing a series of acclaimed recordings. Currently a professor at the University of Oregon, Grant performs in Tony Williams quartet as well as appearing on numerous recordings as sideman.
