BUCKY PIZZARELLI (guitarist) was born January 9, 1926 in Paterson, New Jersey and is considered a master of the seven string guitar. Beginning his professional career with Vaughn Monroe’s dance band in the 40’s, as a skilled rhythm player Bucky has worked with a long list of musicians in performance and recording including Les Paul, Stephane Grappelli and Benny Goodman. In 1952 he became a staff musician for NBC and was part of the Tonight Show Orchestra with Doc Severinson. An active advocate of earlier styles of guitar playing he passed along his enthusiasm to his son, jazz guitarist John Pizzarelli.

Bucky performed on February 4, 2008 as part of the “Sound of Jazz” Jazz series with Neil Swainson (bass) and Terry Clarke (drums).
