Beverly Taft
Biography
BEVERLY TAFT (vocalist) As a vocalist, Taft aims to communicate a song’s essence its story to audiences. A veteran of the Toronto gazz scene, she has performed at all the major venues as well as jazz festivals in Barrie, Markham, Muskoka, Orangeville, Orillia, Peterborough, and Port Hope. She has also performed throughout the United States and Japan.
Taft leads a number of projects, including a bossa nova group, a swing group, and ensemble that explores repertoire with French lyrics, and a trio that features violinist San Murata and guitarist Tony Quarrington.
In 2014, she released Berverly Taft Meets the Nathan Hiltz Orchestra, featuring an eight-piece band including saxophonists Shawn Nykwist and Richard Underfull, trombonist William Carn, trumpeter Jake Wilkinson, pianist Adrean Farrugia, bassist Artie Roth on Bass, and drummer Sly Juhas.
