Q: “Were you a natural or did it really take study on your part? I mean, could you slip by because you had good ears and you could fake it or…”

A: “I was had very good pitch and I always had good intuition and I could sense patterns. I was always good at sensing patterns, which was something that I believe a musician who improvises has to have. Is this sense of being able to see patterns or see which way things are moving and which way things are progressing, you know, naturally.”
