Q: “Did you have a church background?

A: “Yes, oh, yes. I used to play organ on the church and I played trumpet and my aunt played organ. My uncle played tuba, so they couldn't read music, but what they played, they played it well in church. And he's the one that gave me the background that I have, you know, and he had no formal training, but what he had, he conveyed it to me.”
