Biography

DON FRIEDMAN(pianist) was born May 4, 1935 in San Francisco and grew up in the West Coast scene of 1950s Los Angeles. A lyrical performer who was also comfortable with the Avant Garde he sat in with artists like Dexter Gordon, later moving to the thriving New York scene of the 60s with Buddy DeFranco’s band and connecting with Scott LaFaro, Pepper Adams, Charles Lloyd as well as leading his own trios. In the late 1960s he began a long association with Clark Terry. He remains an in- demand player and educator in New York.
