Billy Hart

Biography

BILLY HART (drummer) was born November 29, 1940 in Washington, D.C. The versatile Hart has performed with numerous jazz greats including Shirley Horn, Jimmy Smith, Wes Montgomery, McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Charles Lloyd and Joe Lovano. He has appeared as sideman on some 500 recordings including classics of Miles Davis (On the Corner), Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner and Pharoah Sanders as well several of his own. A sought after sideman, Hart maintains a busy teaching schedule at Oberlin, Western Michigan University and the New England Conservatory.
